PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for the success and delivery of Teen programs, including planning, development, and implementation; Facilitates the recruitment of Teen members and perform job functions within the organizations guidelines. Oversees provision of guidance services to members and assist them in fulfilling and making appropriate choices in educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, and vocational needs.

Prepare Youth for Success

1. Plans and oversees the administration of Teen programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
• Establishes Teen program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
• Oversees the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
• Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area.
• Demonstrates leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
2. Plans and implements teen programs and activities. Evaluates programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities address the gender and cultural diversity of members. These should include Leaders in Training, Keystone, Youth of the Year, Smart Moves, Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach and other programs.
3. Ensures that teen members participate in the programs and receive respect and recognition for doing so. Take advantage of opportunities to promote personal, educational, or career advancement for youth members to include scholarships, contests, and opportunities for recognition and job readiness.
4. Ensures that programs are safe, appropriate, and based on the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Enforces and abides by Clubhouse rules, organization policies, procedures and practices.
5. Manages administrative functions for teen programs and activities, including monthly reports, program schedules, daily attendance, and other recordkeeping as necessary.
6. Serves as a mentor for teen members. Provides guidance and direction to members on a daily basis. Establishes standards, expectations, and consequences for inappropriate youth behavior in accordance with organization guidelines. Applies consequences that are fair, consistent and age appropriate.
7. Assesses member behavior needs and recommend plan of action. Provides written documentation for behavioral issues. May consult with parents/guardians with the approval of the Clubhouse Director.
8. Assists other club staff in the recruitment of teen members through outreach efforts.
9. Oversees cleanliness and safe operation of the teen area. Also assists other staff with the cleanliness and safe operation of the rest of the facility and the grounds.
10. May be required to drive club van for field trips and other teen activities.
11. Works cohesively with other club staff, helping to foster a positive environment for staff and members. Assists in other program areas as needed.
12. Maintain Case Management documentation for grants, etc. in accordance with organizations guidelines.
13. Maintain ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.

Health and Safety
14. Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in program area.
15. Manage facilities and ensure a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order. Recommend requisitions, as necessary; controlling expenditures against monthly supply budget.
16. Manage administrative systems by registering new members and participating in their club orientation process.

Supervision
17. Recruit, train and manage assigned volunteers and staff; provide ongoing feedback; and identify and support development opportunities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in the required operational functions of BGCPV special event fundraisers.
2. May assist in other program areas as assigned.
3. May implement special projects and activities.
4. May provide attention and direction to special needs children.
5. May be assigned other duties as requested by supervisor.
6. May work late evening hours to meet program needs.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close daily contact with teen members, Clubhouse staff, volunteers, and Clubhouse Director to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, and facilitate the implementation of Teen programs.
External: Forge relationships and maintain contact with community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to identify youth who may benefit from participation in BGC Teen programs and to assist in resolving conflicts

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive Club van.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Oversees provision of guidance services to members to assist them in fulfilling and making appropriate choices in educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field
• Minimum of five years experience in planning and implementing youth programs.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to recruit, train, supervises, and motivates staff.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Valid State Drivers License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Able to work in high noise level environment typical of a youth center
• Frequent sitting and standing
• Use of hands for clerical functions
• Continual use of vision and focus for computer usage
• Lift up to 35 pounds occasionally
• Speech and hearing within normal ranges; speech clarity sufficient for standard face to face and telephone communications
• Able to prepare detailed report

SALARY

$29,000 – 32,000 DOE
